I’ve recently been updating my about page to really make sure I’m getting my message across to the people that matter the most….YOU.

photodune-1867911-you-xsIt’s Not About Me, It’s About You!

One of the main things I have changed is the title of my ‘About Me’ page. After working through another course, I realised that I needed to be a lot clearer on what this website is about. Really it isn’t about me at all.

It’s about helping you learn to sew.

Because sewing is an essential skill for fixing and altering your clothes and your families clothes of course. You know, ┬áthe ones you don’t wear because it’s missing a button or the pants that are all worn at the bottom because you didn’t know how to hem them. and many other reasons too….

You Can Make Gifts for Others

A handmade gift is such a valuable thing to give to someone. Money can’t buy the love and effort that goes into a handmade gift. People will love it no matter what, just knowing that you made it. It’s always the thought that counts.

Sewing is a Form of Art and a Creative Outlet

having some playtime is as important when you’re an adult as it is when you were a child. Playing, whether that be through sewing, scrapbooking, or some other arty farty hobby, lets you get your ideas out of your head and try new things. You never know, you might just create the next innovative thing made of fabric!

You Time + Win/Win

If you’re a busy Mum who constantly spends her time doing things for other people, having a hobby, like sewing, allows you to spend sometime for yourself. Although I do spend a lot of my time sewing things for other people. Actually that juste makes it a win/win. You get to spend some time doing something that you enjoy, as well as having something for someone else when you’ve finished it (did that make sense? (I ask this question a lot)).

I have a few more reasons on my ‘About You’ page, which you can check out here.

But the main message I want to get across today is the fact that learning to sew isn’t just about having the skill. I’s about having the skills to problem solve in your every day life. Button fell off? Sew it back on. Need the best Birthday present for your little one that they will remember and cherish for the rest of their lives? Sew one. Need some ‘Me Time’? Go and sew.

Sewing’s not only for you, it’s for the people around you too. What a great excuse to go and buy more fabric and sewing tools!

Why are you starting to learn how to sew? Do they relate to any of the reasons above or do you have a different reason? I would love to hear your thoughts so leave your comments below.
