Changing the needle on your sewing machine is a pretty straight forward task, as long as you know how to do it. I put off changing my needle the first time on my old Singer machine because of the fact that I didn’t know how to do it and I didn’t want to risk breaking my sewing machine. Things to Remember When Changing a Sewing Machine Needle
- Loosen the screw for the old needle using your mini screw driver supplied with all new sewing machines. Don’t forget to hold your needle while you loosen the screw so it don’t fall into the bobbin area
- When inserting a new needle, ensure that the flat side of the shaft (thicker, top part of the needle) is facing away from you
- Tighten your screw with the mini screwdriver to secure the needle in place so it doesn’t shift around while sewing
- You’re ready to thread the sewing machine and sew!
