I recently had a request to sew up a couple of casserole carriers. I knew I had already found a few patterns on Pinterest and had saved them to my easy sewing projects board. You never know when a great idea you see on Pinterest is going to come in handy!!
Look how great the carrier turned out!
The best pattern I found was this one from Sew4Home. The actual pattern had a couple of added extras, but I didn’t worry about those and that made this project really quick and easy!
I would have liked to use webbing for the straps, but I couldn’t find a suitable colour in the little town that I live in so I made my own with the left over fabric from the lining. I ended up liking it in the end, but it did take me a little extra time. What do you think about the straps? Still as nice?
I would also recommend using Insul-Bright (thermal batting) or something similar as the wadding//batting/padding as it will add extra insulating benefits to the casserole carrier, which means your cooking stays warmer for longer. How awesome! I’ve also worked out that the off cuts from this project would be great for making some pot holders. This would minimise the wasted fabric and insul-bright!
I purchased some material to make one for myself because the casserole carriers just looked so fantastic. I’m hoping I’ll get to doing that one….otherwise, the fabric will be just be added to my ever growing stash!
If you missed it, you can find the tutorial for this project here!
Happy sewing everyone!
Domenica
Thank you Domenica for sharing the wrap up casserole cover. I have been looking for a pattern for one of these for a long time. I have now made one using the link and steps you provided. The instructions are all very user friendly and easy to follow which I absolutely loved.
Oh that’s awesome, Colleen! I’m glad you found it useful. All the best at school this year!
